The pain related to this is commonly due to muscle
tightness, weakness and imbalance affecting the gait
pattern of the patient.

For the older population it is mostly wear and tear like
rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

We may also see pain related to the angle of the hip in
relation to the knee. Recommended treatment are
stretching, strengthening exercises, log rolling, but may
need a Physical Therapy to do manual treatments and
certain modalities to address inflammation and severe
tightness.
